Choose a Web Design Agency USA (2026)
Picking the wrong agency wastes $10k–$50k and six months of momentum. This checklist makes the call objective.
1. Define the outcome before the brief
Write one sentence: "In 12 months this website will generate ___ leads/sales per month at a cost-per-acquisition of $___." Every shortlist conversation flows from there.
2. Build a shortlist of five
Sources: our directory, Clutch (filter for verified reviews), direct referrals, and case studies from Awwwards. Don't shortlist anyone whose own site loads in over 3 seconds.
3. Send the same one-page brief to all five
Include: business problem, target audience, deadline, budget range, must-have integrations. Score replies on speed, specificity, and questions asked.
4. Verify US team and past clients
- LinkedIn check on at least 3 team members.
- Two reference calls with US clients from the last 12 months.
- Look at three live client sites, not just portfolio screenshots.
5. Negotiate scope, milestones, kill fee
Insist on enumerated deliverables, milestone payments (never 100% upfront), and a written kill-fee clause if you cancel mid-project. Real agencies welcome these terms.
